Plastic Free Market
In celebration of Plastic-Free July the Ucluelet Aquarium will be hosting our third plastic–free market!
Admission to the market (and aquarium) will by by donation. Proceeds go towards the Ucluelet Aquarium microplastic and marine debris initiative. Vendors will a mix of local businesses and visitors from Vancouver, Victoria, Nanaimo, and more – all dedicated to providing products that reduce the need for plastic in our day to day lives and encourage environmentally responsible living.
Since its inception, the Ucluelet Aquarium has maintained its mission to raise awareness about local marine biodiversity and promote respect for the ocean environment. This means not only educating visitors about the amazing animals that live here, but also educating the public about the human-caused issues (such as plastic pollution) and what they can do to make a positive change.
On July 2nd, we will be hosting an evening plastic–free market inside the aquarium itself. We will open the aquarium to vendors who offer plastic–free products that promote environmentally friendly lifestyles. This is both a way to educate the public about the importance of plastic–free living and a way to provide our small community with access to items that they normally cannot purchase here.
